In my radio show every Saturdays in the Philippines under DZME 1530 “Let’s talk about career”, I always discussed the workplace values of different companies and by citing first the values under Elabram Systems which is very easy to remember because of it’s acronym- ISTARS which means the following;
“Values and ethics are important in the workplace to help keep order, ensuring that a company runs smoothly and remains profitable which is the main objective of any organization to help also the manpower or the team. A stable and liquid company is where we want to work anyway.
The values of the companies for me is the guiding principles for the organization. One must have something to be in or to be a member and the culture and values of each company defines the management and their work positions.
Elabram Systems is more than 7000 strong worldwide that upholds and practices these values. When I did applicant interviews and also in introducing the company to the new team members, I made sure that I discussed ISTARS so that everyone will practice and be guided by it.
One of the things we are doing under Elabram is to acknowledge our team members by celebrating their birthdays with the whole team whether you are part of the team from Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand or Singapore. Just recently at Elabram Systems Headquarter in Malaysia, the team there celebrated the April to June Birthday babies with ‘Eid Mubarak’ dishes such as nasi impit and kuah kacang, roti jala and chicken curry, fruit cocktails, drinks, cake and other festive savouries. Birthday babies also received gifts.
Community Hall (aka Townhall) session held also occasionally to have the following;
- An open forum for the Management to meet the staff members in the Company
- To address issues in the Company
- To gather suggestion / feedback / comment
- To understand each other concerns / parties
The objectives are:
- Organizational Improvement
- Adopt best practices
- A better workplace
